Yoo-Jin Kang

Yoo-Jin Kang (she/hers) is a first-generation Korean American raised in Seattle, Washington (Coast Salish & Puyallup Land) and the DC/Maryland area (Susquehannock, Nentego, & Piscataway Land). She is an experienced executive coach, strategist, and healing justice practitioner with over 10 years of experience combining antiracist equity principles, public health, and trauma-informed care into her facilitation, consulting, and program design.
Yoo-Jin is deeply committed to integrating holistic healing modalities and trauma-informed care into her coaching, consulting, and design work, leveraging her expertise in trauma-informed care, mind-body medicine, and somatic healing practices. Yoo-Jin currently serves as the Senior Advisor and Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at The Council on Foundations, where she spearheads DEI initiatives and internal staff training, establishing forums for impactful discussions and organizational strategy for foundations. Yoo-Jin's previous roles include antiracism consulting, trauma-informed care, and direct service across multiple sectors including the nonprofit, public health, philanthropic, corporate social impact, and education fields. In addition, she is the founder and principal consultant of Yoo-Jin Kang Consulting where she provides trauma-informed career coaching, healing sessions, and organizational workshops that especially center BIPOC, queer, and first-generation communities.
Yoo-Jin's scholarship and professional work have been recognized with several awards, including the Sisters in Public Health Award, the UC Berkeley Dean's Health Equity Award, and American University’s Inclusive Excellence Award. She is pursuing her Master of Public Health from UC Berkeley, focusing on Community Health & Anti-racist Praxis, and holds two Bachelor's degrees, a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and a BA in Modern Languages, Linguistics, and Intercultural Communication from UMBC. She is certified in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace, Racial Justice Leadership, Project Management, and Mind-Body Medicine.
Yoo-Jin is dedicated to creating trauma-informed and healing-centered approaches in leadership, believing that leaders thriving is our greatest asset. She currently resides outside Washington D.C., where she cares for her cat, Matcha, and runs a global, BIPOC healing collective for Eldest Daughters, Eldest Daughters Collective.
