Beyond Self Care:
Radical Resilience for Social Justice
Join this five-week journey that will support social justice leaders, activists and practitioners to cultivate wellbeing, prevent burnout and learn skills and tools to sustain the impact of themselves and those around them.
Based on the latest in neuroscience, somatic methods, and century-old wisdom traditions, this experiential and community-based program connects you with like-minded changemakers to sustain yourself for the long-haul.
Applicants living in Alameda County, Bay Area, and who identify as a person of color, recent immigrant or refugee, are especially encouraged to apply.
About the Program
This program is designed for community leaders, activists and healers who are eager for tools, support and community to navigate the burnout, secondary trauma, stress and emotional strain that comes with working toward social justice. If you are seeking to cultivate balance and resilience to keep fighting for a more just world, this program is for you.
This program will allow you to:
Lead from a place of energy, hope, and joy, instead of overwhelm, scarcity and stress
Increase your effectiveness, creativity, and emotional intelligence in your leadership
Understand burnout from the inside out: how to identify, reverse, and prevent it
Apply tools of resilience and wellbeing to yourself, your team, organizations, and other structures unique to your life and context.
Move beyond the concept of “self-care” to create a holistic life that is purposeful and nourishing
You will receive:
Five 90-minute workshops, customized to the needs of the cohort
Tools and materials to support your journey
Connection to a community of other changemakers
Support and connection to the wider Circles International network of 500+ leaders committed to building resilient teams and organizations
The Nuts and Bolts
Timeline: 5 weeks, starting the week of March 1, 2021 (exact time of the 90-minute sessions to-be-determined by cohort availability; see application for more details.)
Cost: FREE for accepted applicants who qualify. All expenses of this program have been covered by the Center for Empowering Refugees and Immigrants, Wellness in Action, and Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services.
